Wicked Weed Brewing is at it again! Adding to their already existing Royal Cache bottle series they are starting a new summer bottle series called “Terra Locale”. This series comes out of their love to craft wild ales and focuses on all local ingredients to highlight North Carolina’s agrarian heritage.
The first bottle in this series is Hipster Nouveau, a Saison brewed with River Bend Malts (as a collaboration between Wicked Weed and Fonta Flora Breweries) fermented with Brett and 75lbs of McConnell Farm’s Rhubarb. This beer is described to be bright and effervescent with rhubarb tartness and notes of green, stalky sharpness and a smooth mouth feel.
“We wanted to take a style (saison) that is super important to who we are as a brewery and take it back to its agrarian roots. We used grains that are less modified and more controlled because they are grown in our area. We used local produce because it’s in season and readily available just down the road. In keeping with tradition we untallied wild yeast and only brewed small batches,” said Walt Dickinson, creator of the series.
Hipster Nouveau is scheduled for release Friday June 20th at 6pm.
